Yarn Along

I last time I joined the yarn along all I had to show was some yarn. But slowly every day I managed to knit a hat and half a sweater!
DSC00162 I used one skein in the grey I bought on my trip to knit D a hat from this book. What a fantastic book! This hat knit up in 3 days though you could easily do it in one night!

When I got home I started on the first of two tiny tea leaves sweaters.

This lovely golden one (Cascade super wash wool) is for V. I learned my lesson one night when I fell asleep knitting and for some reason insisted on finishing the row in my sleep haze. When I went back the next morning to knit I found horror! I was missing 5 stitches out of 280! As I looked through the row I saw that I dropped stitches on the row beneath that, picked up weird stitches and tried things that shouldn’t have been tried. So I sent out a tweet asking for suggestions on what to do? Take out each stitch one by one or frog frog two rows? Since no one saw the tweet, I decided to just bit the bullet and frog two rows. I’m glad I did because the rows look nice again and I was able to get back on track with the right number of stitches. Now things are going smoothly and I am beginning to work on the body of the sweater. This sweater would be a fantastic beginners sweater, nothing to complicated!

On the reading side, I am working my way through the first issue of Kindred. So lovely! You simply must read it with a cup of something warm in hand!

What are you knitting and reading? Joining Ginny and the Yarn Along.

**I also want to thank you all for the birthday well wishes here on the blog, on Twitter and on Facebook. It really warmed my heart and brought joy to a day filled with sick babies.

So glad you fixed your knitting problem, I haven’t been on twitter or I would have helped. I love the shade of yellow and superwash cascade 220 is decadent to knit with!!!

This yarn is just so wonderful to let slip though your fingers. I might have to use it again or S’s sweater, only in a different color.

I keep threatening that I am going to learn to knit. I even went into a local yarn shop the other day. I love love love the tiny tea leaves sweater, I can’t wait to see it done!

I’m so glad you were able to fix it! I usually end up going to pieces and in the end having to frog the whole thing :-/ I need to work on that. That yellow yarn is so cheerful, just the thing for dreary January and February.

Thank you! I wanted a color totally different from what I would normally put V in.

I do get freaked out by messing up stitches though. Especially with so many at stake.

Love that golden color. very cheery! I’ll have to check out the pattern…i’m wanting a larger project but I really want to work with a bulkier weight. I may ask the ladies at my local shop.

Thanks Lori! I hope they are better soon too. They are getting cabin fever and I can’t take it more with having to clean up snot.

  6. Absolutely love the golden colour, it is going to look so great as a tea leaves. And great hat, looks similar to the one I knit for Justin for Christmas.
